On 24th of May, the bloom team visited Salvation Army School, Asamankese, Eastern Region, Ghana. All the girls from class 4 to JHS 3 were moved to the church auditorium for the program of the day.
Our MC Miss Sybil set off the program, calling someone to pray. Miss Jemima gave the purpose of gathering, educating everyone on the reason for the gathering. Miss Sybil continued with an ice breaker. Hygiene products like deodorant and educative ones like books and pens were given as gifts to those who were bold to answer questions or ask one.
Our Nursing Officer, Aunty Grace spoke to the girls about menstrual hygiene and how to effectively wear the sanitary pad. She also received crucial questions from the girls on hygiene and answered them beautifully. Miss Phoebe and Miss Jemima educated the girls on blooming as a girl child in Christ. Admonishing them also to be confident and focus on their education. Mr Michael danced to refresh and entertain the girls and called on some girls for a dancing competition. The bloom team shared the sanitary pads to the girls with each getting 3 or 4.
The excess was left for the school to have in case of emergencies with the girls. In all the bloom team distributed over 400 sanitary pads to the girls in Salvation Army school. The girls prefect gave the vote of thanks and the Pastor ended the meeting with a prayer. It was all smiles taking pictures and hearing out some of the girls who came to us for a one on one talk.
Bloom! One girl at a time.
